Leadership

Leadership is often cited as being highly influential in shaping people’s experiences. The leadership literature attests to the importance of leadership predicting outcomes across a variety of contexts (e.g., the military, organisational policy, the public sector, and business).

The importance of leadership as a predictor of outcomes has contributed to the development of many theories and models of leadership, e.g. relational based approaches, contingency based approaches, trait-based approaches, implicit leadership theory, path-goal theory of leadership, transformational leadership theory, and the leader-member exchange theory.

Transformational leadership theory has received much research attention in recent years, repeatedly demonstrating effectiveness follower outcome enhancement. Transformational leadership encourages followers to perform beyond their expectations.
